Jacob Stein, Supervisee in Social Work, is a dedicated mental health professional who works full-time with Arlington County Public Schools. As a school social worker, Jacob collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to support students both within and outside the school environment. He plays an active role in the special education process, advocating for students and determining their eligibility for Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). This expertise extends to his work in private practice with youth, families, and adults. Jacob advocates for clients with IEPs and 504s, ensuring they receive the necessary support to thrive in their school settings.
In addition to counseling clients, Jacob also partners with parents to enhance outcomes by connecting families with valuable community resources and strengthening parenting skills.
Throughout his career, Jacob has gained diverse experiences, from guiding French teenagers on tours across the West Coast to working with elementary and high school students in the NOVA area. Jacob’s therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and play therapy, often incorporating a variety of games such as video games, Magic: The Gathering, and chess into therapy sessions.
Additionally, Jacob offers therapeutic rock-climbing sessions outside the office, which help clients build confidence, strength, and a wide range of skills. His areas of practice include ADHD, anxiety, life transitions, neurodivergence, and social/emotional skills.
Outside of his professional life, Jacob enjoys rock climbing, traveling, gaming, and spending quality time with friends and family.
Jacob practices under the supervision of David Paul, LCSW.
