Mindy is on a life-long scavenger hunt, looking for creative ways to support and validate her favorite group of people—anyone who feels overlooked, misunderstood, or left out. That search has expanded and taken different forms over the years, from being a hospice volunteer to working alongside adult artists with disabilities. Most recently this quest led her to study art therapy at George Washington University where she earned her Masters in Art Therapy. She has worked as an intern at Dominion Hospital, A Wider Circle, and the GW Art Therapy Clinic. Art therapy, as a means of communicating our thoughts and feelings visually, offers unique tools to help support people in understanding, processing, and expressing their internal realities.
Mindy’s therapeutic philosophy is a bouquet of ideas from Person-Centered, Internal Family Systems, and Existential therapies, but most of all she believes in therapy that’s experiential and that honors the very human and unpredictable paths that healing can take. When she’s looking for fun, you might find Mindy exploring a new town, trying all the desserts, or just savoring the moments with her husband and cats.
